 Mr. Carl Wayne Long, 74, of Matheson Cove Road, Hayesville, passed away peacefully on Friday June 25, 2021 at his home following an extended illness. Carl was born on Sept. 4 1946 in Hayesville. He was the son of the late James W. Long and Mary J. Rowland. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Vietnam War. One of Carl’s passions was truck driving. Over his career he drove for Coble Dairies, Merita and Kerns Bread companies. He was involved with his church and  taught Sunday School for many years. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was involved with his church and had taught Sunday School for many years. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his loving wife, Roberta Maney Long, of Hayesville, three sons and three daughters-in-law; Dwight Carl and Angie Long, of Hayesville; Dwayne Lee  and Angel Long, of Clarksville, Va.; David Charles and Tonya Long, of Hiawassee; two step-sons; Russell and Julie Fleming, of Jacksonville, Fla.; Reggie and Hollie Fleming, of Dalton, Ga.; and 14 grandchildren; Ashley ,Christopher, Cameron, Benjamin, Alivia, Emily, Payton, Matthew and Andrew Long, Hayli, Julienty, Hannah, Cory and Faith Fleming.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday June 30 from the Mountain View Chapel with Revs. Tommy Thomas, Junior Maney and Stanley Gibson officiating. Special music was presented by Larry and Bonnie Henderson. Interment followed in the Meadow View Cemetery with the North Georgia Honor Guard conducting military honors. The following gentleman served as pallbearers, Christopher, Cameron and Benjamin Long, Ty Fleming, Jeff Garrett and Ray Guyette. Serving as honorary pallbearer was Matthew Long. The family  met with friends from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
