Earl Wilson, 74, of Hayesville, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021 at his residence. Earl was a native of Orlando, Florida where he lived until moving to Hayesville in 2003. Earl served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 6 years. He then worked for Otis Elevators as an elevator service mechanic for the next 36 years until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of Local 139 International Elevator Union.

Earl was a gifted storyteller and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, woodworking and hunting. He was of the Christian faith.

He was the son of the late James E. Wilson and Bradie Parton Davis. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Wilson and brother, Charles H. Wilson.

Surviving are his loving wife of nearly 55 years, Jackie Wilson; daughter, Stephanie Wilson, of Titusville, Fla.; son, Wayne Wilson and wife, Ana, of Fredricksburg, Va.; sister, Jeannette King, of Bronson, Fla.; two half-sisters, Vera Wilson, of Spartanburg, S.C. and Nancy Degroot and husband, Moe, of Homosassa, Fla.; brother, Jim Wilson and wife, JoAnne, of Orlando, Fla.; two grandchildren, Wendi Wilson and Wyatt Wilson; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Hayesville with Father Alex Ayala officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church’s Memory Garden.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Bernard Earl Wilson to Good Shepherd Hospice, 75 Medical Park Lane, Suite C, Murphy, N.C. 28906.
