Harry W. Davis Jr., 84, died on Sept. 2, 2021 in Lakeland, Fla.

He is survived by his brother Thomas (Darlene), of Wake Forest, N.C., and Phillip, of Connellsville, Pa.

Harry, also known as ‘June’ to family, is preceded in death by his sister Mary Shaffer and brother Gary.

He was born on Aug. 10, 1937 in the coal mining town of Melcroft, Pa. to parents Harry W. Davis and Rachel Hillen Davis. He graduated from Connellsville Senior High School in 1955 at age 17 and joined the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed in Guam, Okinawa and Philippines (Clark Air Base). There he participated in the construction of communication systems.

Following his service, he was employed for many years at Anchor Hocking (cap division) in Connellsville. He then became a boilermaker welder for the remainder of his career working in power plants and mine chemical plants in both Pennsylvania and Florida (Central Maintenance).

In 1958, he married Emilia Colamartino. The couple had two sons, Kirk (Ginger), of Lakeland, Fla. and Stacy, of Hayesville, and daughter June Ann who died in infancy. His family lived in the community of Breakneck near Connellsville where he built and finished his home. Harry also lived in both Deltona and Lakeland, Fla. as well as Young Harris, Ga. in retirement.

In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and especially bass fishing with his family. Harry was a talented wood carver, craftsman and artist in his spare time. He attended the First Free Will Baptist Church in Hayesville.

Harry had three grandchildren, Nathaniel (Lauren), Harrison and Cash (mother Michele), and two great-grandchildren, Miller and Mae.

Harry was dearly loved and will be missed by his friends and family. No service is planned.
