James “Jim” Douglas Halloran, 82, of Hiawassee, Ga., passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021.

Jim was born in Mayfield, N.Y. Aug. 23, 1938 to the late Donald and Myrtle Hickock Halloran.

He was a member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Hayesville. He served in the United States Navy living in Key West, Fla. and moved to the mountains in 1976. He owned and operated Oak Forest Realty in Hayesville for 30 years and developed countless properties in the area. He loved hunting and fly fishing. He always found the best in people. His family and friends recall him as a simple, kind and giving man. Jim also had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father and doting gramps.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Lynn Wilson and Donna Drake.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia Halloran; daughters and sons-in-law, Stacey and Kenny Waldroup and Jaime and Bill Pierson and son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Terry Dygert along with 11 grandchildren and six great- grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Randy Carlton; sisters, Judy Taylor and Betty Hosbach.

Services will be held  at 11 a.m. Saturday May 29 at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Hayesville. There will be food to follow in the parish hall.
