Mr. Larry James Shook, 64, of Winchester Creek Road, Young Harris, Ga., went to be with the Lord on Friday March 12, 2021 at his home following an extended illness. Larry was born on Nov. 8, 1956 in Hiawassee, Ga., son of the late J.W. Shook and Shirley McClure-Shook. Larry loved working on the farm; especially with his mules and horses. He also loved riding in his mule-drawn wagon. Larry is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Buddy and Randy Shook; and one sister; Delores Mason. He was a member of the Stephens Lodge #414 F&AM as well as First Free Will Baptist Church, of Hayesville. Larry was a native and life-long resident of Towns County.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law; Terence and Alicia Shook, of Brasstown, N.C. and Trevor Shook, of Young Harris; two sisters, Christi Schafer, of Blairsville, Ga., Michelle Hunter, of Hiawassee; one brother; Danny Shook, of Young Harris; special friend, Sherry Shook, of Young Harris; and four grandchildren, Grayson Shook, Connor and Carson Reece and Emily Shook. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 14 at the Mountain View Chapel with Rev. Chris Rumfelt officiating. A eulogy was presented by Chad Sisum. Special music was presented by Chris Rumfelt and Leigha Fallis. Interment followed in the Many Forks Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentleman served as pallbearers, Brandon Free, Robb, Chase, Chandler and Chayton Schafer and Chad Sisum. The following gentleman served as honorary pallbearers, Austin Denton, Rick Davenport, Real Desjardins, Thomas Orr and members of the Stephens Masonic Lodge. The family met with friends at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, March 13.
