Leon Teems, 69 of Murphy, N.C. went home to be with the Lord peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. He was born in Clay County, N.C. on September 10, 1951, to the late Conley Edward Teems and Georgia Ann Watkins Teems. Leon was a heavy equipment mechanic and loved to piddle around. Leon lived most of his life in the Peachtree community. He was an active member and deacon of the Faith Tabernacle Church of Hayesville. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, taking his beautiful wife for rides on the 3-wheeler and dune buggy and spending time with his family. Leon loved his family and he loved the Lord. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Betty Teems Chance and Barbara Teems Brumbly; brothers, Robert Teems, Allen Teems, Harry Lee Teems, Tommy Teems and a baby brother who was born dead.

Survivors include: loving wife of 50 years, Brenda Gail Henson Teems; daughter, Melissa Teems Nelson and husband Jason, of Warne; son, Corey Teems and fiancée Amanda Michael, of Hayesville; brother, Donald Teems; grandchildren, Dillon (Kayla) Nelson, of Murphy; Sarah Nelson, of Warne; step-granddaughter, Issabella Mercer; great-grandchildren, Bryleigh Nelson and Isabella Nelson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held  at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Dyer officiating. Music was provided by Lewis and Olene Dyer. Leon will travel to his final resting place at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Warne, on the back of an old service truck that he and Corey built together. Pallbearers were Corey Teems, Jason Nelson, Dillon Nelson, Jimmy Teems, Jeff Martin and David Allen.

The family received friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy from 12-2 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021.
