William Henry Garrison, 55, of Hayesville, received his peace in the valley on Thursday, June 10, 2021, following a brief illness. 

William was a bright, shining light in his family circle. He always found a reason to smile or crack a joke, even on the darkest of days. Every Sunday for more than 50 years, William could be found at Sunday School and worship service at Moss Memorial Baptist Church. He loved his church family and his presence will be missed in the congregation. William loved everyone he met. His aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and special friends were the highlight of his life. William was well-known for his love of NASCAR, trucks and country and gospel music. 

William is preceded in death by his father, Glen Henry Garrison; grandparents, Fred and Esta Garrison and Garfield and Madge Postell; several aunts and uncles. 

Surviving are his mother and faithful caregiver, Dale Postell Garrison; two sisters, Denise Garrison and Midge Roach and husband, Dale; a brother, Herman Garrison; nephew, Matthew Roach, all of Hayesville; two nieces, Anna Grace Owen and husband, David, of Lake Toxaway, N.C. and Danielle West, of Andrews, N.C.; a great-niece, Adreona Shook, of Hayesville; several aunts, uncles and cousins. 

The family would also like to recognize his caregivers who stood by his side throughout his sickness: his sister, Denise Garrison; his aunt, Becky Cutshaw; Sabrina Huskins and all of the wonderful staff at Four Seasons Hospice. 

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 13 at Moss Memorial Baptist Church in Hayesville with Revs. Charles Shelton, Matthew Roach, Derek Tilley and Eddie Duckworth officiating. Special music was provided by Matthew Roach and Derek and Charlotte Tilley. Interment was at the Moss Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Charlie Blaine, Robert and Danny Gee, Ronnie Smith, Laney Cutshaw and David Owen. Honorary pallbearers wer the men of Moss Memorial Baptist Church, uncles, nephews and cousins. 

The family received friends from 1 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the services.
