Smoky Mountain Conference schools gathered in Cherokee Wednesday, June 9 for the track and field conference championships. Hayesville athletes not only came away with strong performances in their events, but also with awards and recognitions from the conference. Ryelan Snowden was voted “Most Outstanding Track Athlete” and Jake McTaggart was awarded “Most Outstanding Field Event Athlete.” Snowden and McTaggart joined Paul White on the “All-conference” list thanks to wins in their events. Several other Hayesville athletes received honorable mentions from the SMC.

400 meter dash: Kaysen Krieger, fifth place, 1:07.10.

100 meter hurdles: Emma Shook, fourth place, 17.00.
