Mrs. Janet Elizabeth Raleigh, age 101, of Hayesville, NC, passed away from natural causes Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at the Stonehenge Assisted Living facility in Blairsville, GA. She was born Dec. 10, 1920, in Plymouth, MA to the late Antonio and Mable Hughes Perrault. Mrs. Raleigh had lived in this area for the past 30 years coming here with her husband from Florida.
She was very talented and was an avid Quilter. Mrs. Raleigh was preceded in death by her husband, Cmdr. Harry S. Raleigh and a daughter, Elizabeth Yuknus. Survivors include a son Harry (Patricia) Raleigh, JR of Warne, NC; daughter, Michelle (Sam) Hayes of Mooresville, NC; sister, Louise Emond of Kingston, MA; grandchildren, Matthew, Christian, Shannon, Lynsey, Ashley and Jason; and seven great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel, Blairsville, GA. Family will meet with friends following the services. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery where she will rest beside her beloved husband, Cmdr. Harry S. Raleigh, SR. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials in Mrs. Raleigh’s memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
