This Thursday,  I was proud to introduce the No Fly for Illegals Act. This bill would ban the use of federal funds being spent to compensate airlines that fly illegal immigrants throughout the country, allowing this only for those being deported or who are facing an imminent threat to his or her physical safety. I have heard the concern so many of you have voiced regarding this effort by the Biden administration. I am proud to be able to act on your behalf.

While many in leadership refuse to properly address the crisis at the southern border or the cries of the Cuban people, there are those of us who will not idly stand by. I was honored this past week to join my colleagues in writing to the international community urging them to: denounce the Cuban regime, stand in solidarity with the Cuban people and their cries for freedom, and provide democratic assistance to freedom advocates. Communism is a cancer. I will always do what I must to fight against it.

In the last few weeks, my offices both in Washington D.C. as well as in the district have received numerous calls regarding the outstanding need so many of you have for expeditious assistance with passport and VISA issues. In response to this, I was glad for the opportunity to sign onto a letter to Secretary Antony Blinken urging that he listen to your voices and do what needs to be done to properly equip our passport centers to meet these overdue needs. I recognize that many of you have businesses, study opportunities, and family obligations that hinge upon the Directorate of Passport Services functioning properly. I will continue to advocate for you and push for these changes to be made.

While I worked in D.C. as Congress was in session, my district staff remained hard at work answering your calls and working to solve all cases we have received.

For the great veterans within the district, we would like to share an important announcement: The Department of Veterans Affairs is offering a new COVID-19 Refund Modification option to assist Veterans who require a significant reduction in their monthly mortgage payments because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the COVID-19 Refund Modification, VA can purchase a Veteran’s past due payments and amounts of unpaid principal, depending on how much assistance is necessary, subject to certain limits. For more detailed information regarding this new option, visit VA's Home LoanProgram or call 877-827-370.

Our hard-working caseworkers within the district have dedicated their time this week to address ongoing cases ranging from passport issuances and visas to veterans affairs cases. Our office is happy to announce that we have nearly reached 600 closed cases, hitting 599 just this past week. I recognize that each case represents a person, or a family, with a distinct issue that needs solving. As your representative, I can promise that my team and I will do all we can to continue to serve you and serve you well.

I look forward to keeping you updated on my legislative work in Congress. My offices are actively responding to constituent calls and emails, as we are continually committed to meeting the needs of our district. If I can be of service to you in any way, please don't hesitate to contact any of my five offices. One in Washington, DC, and four in North Carolina, or follow me on social media.
