Deby Jo Ferguson
Deby Jo Ferguson, a resident of Hayesville, will be holding a book signing from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 10 at the Clay County Progress office.
Ferguson is a local author of several books including “WhispersAmong the Laurels” which are personal interviews with those who shared their life about years gone by.
Another book is “Captivity in Satan's Vineyard” in which Ferguson interviewed ex POW’s of World War II from the Bataan/Corregidor Death March also remembered as the Battling Bastards of Bataan.
Included in her collection of books is interviews with Vietnam Veterans including one X-POW Nat Henry from Franklin, N.C. The book is called “Vietnam: A Plea for Honor.”
Also including in her writings is a book of poetry called “Memories to Behold” which was actually her first writing.
According to Ferguson “I've been blessed to have the opportunity to share stories of those who saw their first airplane and the first car in the mountain area. They were generations of people who opened up their life and shared their hardships and accomplishments with us. They were a generation who were rich in many ways although considered poor by those who didn't understand where their wealth stood.
“As we all celebrate this July 4th holiday I must confess after interviewing soldiers of World War II, Ex-POW’s, Vietnam Veterans and others who fought for our freedom, I respect what it is to be patriotic.” Ferguson said.
