It’s three girls and a guy on the Peacock stage on October 23, as host and local legend Rob Tiger presents another in the very popular Songwriters Showcase series at the Peacock in Hayesville. Joining him are Tia Sillers, Alice Peacock and Shannon Labrie.
Appearing at the Peacock for the first time is Nashville-based Tia Sillers. But she’s not a newcomer to the music scene. She and co-writer Mark D. Sanders have written hits for The Dixie Chicks, Pam Tillis, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and George Ducas, among many others, and their hit, “I Hope You Dance” was a winner of the Grammy Award for Best Country Song as well as the CMA and ACM Awards for Song of the Year and the song led to the release of a book of the same name by Sillers and Sanders. The book has sold almost 200,200 copies to date, and she continues to be a “go-to” writer in Nashville and you’ll see why when you hear her songs!
What could be more appropriate for the Peacock than an artist with the last name “Peacock”? Also based in Nashville, Alice Peacock returns to the Peacock stage. She has released five albums, both on a major label and aan independent artist. Many of her songs have been selected for feature films and TV shows including The Ghost Whisperer, Dawson’s Creek and Smallville and TV commercials such as Hershey’s launch of Bliss chocolate. In addition to her extensive tours, she has made guest appearances on many notable shows including A Prairie Home Companion. She is proud of her other interests such as being the founder of Rock For Reading, an Illinois non-profit which raises awareness and resources for literacy programs.
Joining Sillers and Peacock is Nashville-based Shannon Labrie, who is another returning artist to the Peacock. Like many other artists, she grew up elsewhere and became a singer/songwriter at an early age. She attributes her career start to her dad who taught her guitar chords and song structure. When he passed, songwriting became her way of grieving and her music feature stories of a woman true to herself “in a life where only uncertainty is certain.” Her newest album, Building, features “Firewalker” which NPR named Top 20 of 2020. Her music has also been featured in numerous television shows and films and her songs have been recorded by a variety of artists.
