The Hayesville High School Journalism Class recognizes Career and Technical Education teachers below in commemoration of CTE month.
Wade Byers is a Hayesville native. He took automotive classes through high school, earned his Associate of Applied Science in Automotive Technology through Tri-County; attended Southwestern Community College and Guilford Tech. He’s always loved working with the youth, but didn’t expect to be a teacher for 15 years. He feels rooted in the mountains and the family he has here. His favorite quote is “Success is not for the timid. It is for those who seek guidance, make decisions and take decisive action” by Jose Silva.
Bobbie Jones was inspired by her high school Career and Technical Education teacher. She always wanted to teach, but she did not necessarily want to be a business teacher. During COVID, having knowledge and practice with computers has definitely helped. In her career, she has taught all grades including kindergarten through eight, middle and high school. She enjoys her job as a business educator and she likes that education is constantly changing. Her favorite quote is “Education means inspiring someone’s mind, not just filling their head” by Katie Lusk.
Christy Caruso has always enjoyed helping others. Teaching is way different from nursing. She loves teaching and seeing students grow. Teaching high school has been interesting and fun. There’s never a dull moment. Before teaching, she was a registered nurse. She worked with home health and in a nursing home. It can get frustrating, but you have to do what you can to not let it affect you. Her favorite quote is “Many medicines, few cures” by Benjamin Franklin.
