The RiverBenders will perform a Friday night concert at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8. The show will be held in the Keith House. Admission is free, donations are appreciated.

The RiverBenders are an old-time string band composed of students from Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, N.C. They perform a mix of old-time songs and traditional fiddle tunes, mostly from the southern Appalachian region. Coached by western North Carolina musician and dancer, Phil Jamison, this young band was featured at this year’s Bascom Lamar Lunsford at Mars Hill University. They have also played for dances at the Old Farmers Ball contra dance in Swannanoa. The band consists of Willow Dillon playing the fiddle, Rachel Dunaway playing the banjo, Trinity Esola playing the guitar, Maggie Hollar playing the bass and Phil Jamison playing the guitar.

Warren Wilson College offers a unique undergraduate degree in traditional music that emphasizes the multi-cultural roots, influences and varieties of vernacular music within southern Appalachia.
