Tiger presents new artists

Local favorite Rob Tiger will be presenting three extraordinary artists on September 11 at the Peacock Performing Arts Center, 301 Church Street in Hayesville. Jeff Black, Alex Guthrie and Nikki Talley will be featured in an awesome array of talents in this always-appealing “round robin” showcase.

Nikki Talley is an award-winning vocalist and songwriter: she has won 2nd place at the prestigious Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and she won the title of “Carolina Star” at a weekly televised judged singing competition modeled after American Idol. Her recent release “Out From the Harbor” received national airplay and was among the top 100 on AMA charts.

Alex Guthrie hails from Atlanta and blends the genres of soul, folk and rock with his expressive voice. He was recently seen on Season 17 of The Voice, he has sung the National Anthem for the Atlanta Braves, was voted most popular Emerging Artist at the 2018 Summerfest in Milwaukee.  He achieved some notable popularity as “the guy from the Jennifer Hudson commercial” and has been the opening act for several national touring artists including Drake White and Kelly Clarkson.

Jeff Black lives in Nashville and Sam Bush has recorded many of his songs including “Same Ol’ River” and “King of the World.” Jeff co-wrote the title track to Sam’s Grammy-nominated album “Circles Around Me.”  His songs appear on recordings by Waylon Jennings, Dierks Bently, John Oates and by many other familiar names. WUMB Boston listeners voted Black one of the top 100 Folk artists of the last 25 years. His latest collection, offered in “A Walk in the Sun,” features Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas and a host of others and was released in January last year.

The show begins at 7 p.m. Ticket prices: adults are $23; 65 and older: $20; students: $15, and 8 and under are free.  They may be purchased at the box office, 828-389-2787, or online at thepeacocknc.org or by visiting Tiger’s Mercantile on the square. Face masks are required. The Peacock is a 501-3c non-profit organization and an equal opportunity provider and employer.
