The threat of rain on Saturday subsided, the sun popped out and the crowds popped in for the Car-B-Que hosted by Rotary Club of Lake Chatuge.
Rotarian Jane Hindsman said an estimated 350-400 people came to enjoy home cooked barbecue and vote for their favorite cars on the Hayesville town square.
The yearly event raises money for Hayesville High School scholarships.
Seventy-two cars were registered and participants came from Hayesville and surrounding areas in Georgia and Tennessee.
Taking the top awards were:
Best of Show: Zak Lowe with a 1955 Ford Fairlane.
Car Owners’ Choice: Terry Stroud’s 1966 Chevy Corvette.
People’s Choice: Brad Bodell’s 1940 Ford Deluxe.
