Organizers are gearing up for one of Clay County newest traditions, the Moonshine Mardi Gras Parade which will be rolling through the streets of downtown Hayesville at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7
Event founder Michael Castellano invites the public to the Hayesville square where they will see unique floats along with several participants donning their Mardi Gras costumes.
The parade starts at Fat Dog on Main Street and proceeds around the square. It concludes at George’s Hardware.
“Parade-goers can expect plenty of throws — so bring the whole family, line the parade route and be ready to shout the classical, “Throw me something mister,” said Castellaano.
Another highlight is the crowning of the king and queen of the parade. This year’s royalty were Greg Fidler as king and Sherri Garrett, queen.
