Two candidates vying for mayor

Hayesville’s municipal election is Tuesday, Nov. 4. The three council members are running unopposed; however, two candidates are competing for the mayor’s seat.
Four of the candidates currently serve on the town board. The mayor, Joe Slaton is a candidate for council member. The other two candidates are incumbent board members Harry Baughn and Lauren Tiger.
Current council member Benita England is in the mayor’s race against Mike Castellano.
Town Hall serves as the voting precinct for Hayesville’s election. It is open 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The town’s registered voters number 282. Results are expected at the county Board of Elections around 8:30 p.m.
