The Tennessee Valley Authority is asking for members of the public to engage with them as they consider potential routes for new transmission lines that are needed to meet a growing power demand in the area. A six-hour TVA Open House for Proposed Transmission Project in Clay County. The TVA wants to work with landowners and others with interests along the proposed routes as much as possible and wants to hear from many at the open house in Towns County, Ga.
Blue Ridge Mountain Electrical Management Cooperative is planning to build a substation on Burnt Schoolhouse Road in Clay County and TVA proposes to build about 7.7 to 9.5 miles of single-circuit transmission line to serve the substation. The new line would be built using primarily single-pole structures (with the possibility of two-pole H-frame structures in hilly areas) centered on a new 100-foot-wide right of way.
The public open house for the TVA Proposed Transmission Project will be held from 1 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4 at the Towns County Recreation Center, 150 Foster Park Road, Young Harris, Ga. 30582.
TVA staff will answer questions, discuss concerns and receive comments. For those unable to attend the open house, TVA is providing a virtual open house which will be accessible starting Dec. 4 through Jan. 5.
