    For the first time since 2004, the Hayesville Yellow Jackets are state champions. Hayesville completed their perfect 28-0 season with a 54-43 victory of Chatham Charter Saturday, March 12 at N.C. State in Raleigh.

    Four quarters weren't enough to decide the 1A championship, but Hayesville, led by senior point guard Kolbe Ashe, dominated the overtime period to put an exclamation mark on their championship run.
