Saturday’s Hayesville Christmas Parade attracted the largest participation in the events history with a record 19 floats making up the bulk of the procession.
In addition to the high numbers, the quality of the extravagant designs were were evident as the judges reported a tough time choosing winners.
Meadow Grove Baptist Float received Best Faith Based award; Most Christmas Spirit and the Mayor’s Choice non profit went to Ashley Sexton and The Joy of Giving float complete with an assortment of stuffed animals tossed to children along the route. In the profit category State Dock Repair and Aqua Tiki won the Best Theme and the Mayor’s Choice award in the profit category.
In the Best Classic Car category, Charlie Wood won in his Model A Ford Roadster.
Alana Crawford won best of show in horse on “Clay Boy.”
The weather also cooperated on Saturday. What had been a bleak weather forecast in terms of rain, held off until about 8 p.m. The parade was over by 7 p.m.
The parade has been sponsored by the Clay County Progress since it began in 1987.
The parade committee expresses its gratitude to all who participated or helped in any way.
