This morning members of all Emergency Services met to evaluate our response plan for the upcoming storm. As part of our plan, we wanted to share some tips.
An Emergency Operations Center has been established at the Clay County Sheriff's Office. You may direct questions regarding to this storm by calling (828) 389-6354 and dialing extension 121.
If possible, do not be out after hours due to the high risk of flash flooding.
If you approach a section of roadway that is flooded, do not drive across it. A vehicle can be swept away by a current in just inches of water.
If you see an area where a roadway is flooded, please contact our Emergency Operations Center by dialing (828) 389-6354 ext. 121. We will attempt to get someone out to set up cones alarming others to danger.
The American Red Cross is on scene and will be assisting with opening a shelter if it is needed. If this occurs, we will make a post right here on our Facebook as well as the Clay County EMS Facebook Page.
