Government meetings
• Clay County ABC Board meeting will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13.
• Clay County Board of Elections meeting will be at 9 a.m. Tuesdays, Nov. 1 and at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7. All monthly board meetings are held at the office at 75 Riverside Circle, Suite 3. The General Election will be Tuesday, Nov. 8.
• Clay County Board of Commissioners, 6:45 p.m. the first Thursday of the month in the multi-purpose room at the Clay County Courthouse. Call 389-0089.
• Clay County Sewer and Water, 6:30 p.m. the first Thursday of the month in the multi-purpose room at the Clay County Courthouse. Call 389-1361.
• Clay County Board of Education, 6 p.m. the fourth Monday of the month. Call 389-8513.
• Clay County Sheriff’s Office has free gun locks available for you to come pick up at the office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
• Food assistance
• The Clay County Food Pantry is open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. every Friday to distribute food. The pantry is located at 2278 Hinton Center Road. Contact Bill Rice (828) 389-1657. The website is: www.claycountyfoodpantry.org.

• There is a meeting of Citizens For A Better America promoting freedom and Constitutional Rights, eat at 5 p.m., meeting from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov.17 at the Brasstown Community Center, 255 Settawig Rd., Brasstown, There will be food on site to purchase. • Peachtree Community Club will host a Holiday Craft Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 at Peachtree Community Center, 125 Memory Lane, Murphy N.C. • To dispose of tattered, worn, faded or otherwise unusable flags, drop off at the Clay County Progress, Chamber of Commerce or Moss Memorial Library. Flags will be retrieved by The American Legion Post 532 for a proper and honorable retirement.
• Pull-tabs from drinks for the Ronald McDonald House can be dropped off at the Clay County Progress.
