Superintendent Melissa Godfrey called a construction meeting for the new Hayesville Intermediate School on Friday, June 26. Work on the school is progressing and completion scheduled for the end of this year. Godfrey addressed the change orders within the two floors of the school and the eleven changes with either credits or additional costs were discussed prior to a walk-through. • A credit of $3,517.50 for deleting carpet and sealing concrete in the stage storage area. • Temp monitor and alarm on freezer and cooler added at a cost of $4,537.78. • Art room split, wall construction, paint, door, HVAC, electrical added at $16,418.89. • A credit in eliminating yellow accents on storefront window trim of $3,300. • The addition of a brick patio retaining wall at a total added cost of $27,013.31. • A credit of $337.20 for electric heater changes. • Additional painting: auditorium catwalk, walkway by cafeteria, patio, canopy: $20,950. • A credit of $8,000 in simplification of door hardware. • Added cost of $825 for framing and sheetrock at duct chase opening room 418. • Added cost of $6,500 for locker bases as recommended by manufacturer. • BRMEMC Phase 2 relocation at a total cost of $63,641.62. • (Another cost is anticipated with BRMEMC for Phase 3) Godfrey listed future items which may be changed, but not yet determined. They are as follows without values. • Additional storm water piping. • Eliminate Barz ceilings in the cafeteria and auditorium hallway. • Canopy at Middle School Gym. • Eliminate small casework unit in front lobby. • Locker quantity reduction. • Lighting conflicts with ceilings. • Grade and retaining wall behind auditorium. The drywall phase is going up throughout the new school, tiered seating is installed in the auditorium, tile layers are doing well, brick work is 100 percent complete, plumbing is 100 percent roughed-in and electricians are doing well. Eighty-five percent of duct work is complete and the envelope of the building is beginning to look complete as the construction walk-through confirmed.
