As part of an art project, Hayesville’s third through fifth grade, which included about 270 students, have been busy painting pumpkins to place around the square for the upcoming fall and Halloween season. The event was sponsored by the Clay County Chamber of Commerce which hosts the Punkin Chunkin Oct. 15-16 and Anything Pumpkin cook-off on Friday, Oct. 13. Shown with the pumpkins are Calista and Marlee Dockery and art teacher, Brooke Ballew. Many visitors, including the artists and their parents, have stopped to walk alone the pumpkin trail.
