The woman accused in the shooting death of Clay County resident Todd Phillip Taylor is in custody of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. She is being held without bond.

Cheryl Ann Nicklow, 66, was arrested at a Florida hospital Monday on a fugitive warrant out of North Carolina.

Nicklow had fled to the Florida hospital after she allegedly killed her fiancée at his Mission Dam Road home on Feb. 18.

Taylor, 61,  was found with a single gunshot wound to the head. Clay County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Joe Wood confirmed the weapon used was a shotgun.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has drawn up a  warrant charging her with murder. Wood said she is fighting extradition to Clay County. He is in the process of obtaining a Governor’s Warrant so she will face the charge here.

Nicklow, was hospitalized near Naples after “an apparent overdose attempt,” Sheriff Mark Buchanan said last week.

The Naples Daily News reported that Nicklow was due in court March 18 for her arraignment.
