Two juveniles will face charges after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office solved a rash of property crimes spanning the past three months, according to a press release from Sheriff Mark Buchanan’s office.

He said most of the stolen property has been recovered.

The juveniles are suspects in the following crimes:

• A December breaking and entering and larceny of firearms off of old 64 east.

• Larceny of a vehicle (motorcycle) Geisky Creek area.

• Larceny of a vehicle (motorcycle) Tusquittee residence.

• Burglary and larceny (Geisky Creek).

• Larceny (Geisky Creek).

• Burglary, larceny and larceny of a firearm (Geisky Creek).

• Breaking and entering and larceny (Geisky Creek).

•Breaking and entering, larceny and larceny of a motor vehicle. (Hayesville).

The suspects will be charged in the juvenile justice system because of a 2019 law passed by the N.C. Legislature that raised the minimum age of responsibility to be charged for certain criminal offense, according to the release. Therefore, the offenders must be prosecuted in the Juvenile Justice system.

“One offender has been placed into secure custody through the juvenile system,” Buchanan said. “Both will be charged as related to their involvement in the crimes.”
