According to Dollywood’s Entertainment coordinator Roger White, “Music fans everywhere need to see Run Katie Run live. Guests love their energy, their music and their showmanship.” Well Clay County, here is your chance.
The Friday Summer Concert Series on the square presented by the Clay County Communities Revitalization Association brings Run Katie Run to the gazebo at the Historic Courthouse/Beal Center at 7 p.m. on May 31.
Kate Coleman leads a quintet of Marietta, Ga. based best friends who joined together in 2021 and released “Running on Love.” Their first extended recording garnered attention from Glide and American Songwriter magazines and led to their being the featured band at Dollywood’s Harvest Festival. In 2023 they released their first LP “Cowboy Boots with Fishnet Tights” a compilation of 13 original Americana/roots-rock tunes dealing with relationships of all kinds. In addition to original songs, Run Katie Run will perform creative covers of favorites like Me and Bobby McGee, Jolene, White Rabbit and With a Little Help from my Friends.
Following the rain out of the May 17 concert, CCCRA is looking forward to good weather and to kicking off the 2024 season. The schedule has been reworked so that we don’t miss out on any of the eight great bands on the docket. Mark your calendars for May 31, June 14th, 21st, and 28th, July 5th and 26th, and August 9th and 16th.
CCCRA is grateful for the support of three key community sponsors this year: Edward Jones (Financial advisor Jodi Sullivan), Hwy 69 Storage (Tony Wiegold) and RE/MAX Town & Country (The Richard Kelley Group). CCCRA’s free, family-friendly concerts are made possible by these and other sponsors, private individuals, businesses and organizations and from donations to the red bucket on concert nights.
This Friday, Hayesville Q will be on the Square offering their tender n’ tasty Texas-style smoked BBQ and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 532 will roast their crowd-favorite hot dogs as a fundraiser for veterans. So come early and come hungry. Thirsty? Wet your whistle with one of Laughing Dogs Brewing’s local brews or other beverages.
Historic Hayesville Inc. will provide free transportation on the Red Rider between parking areas and the Square. Everyone is encouraged to bring family and friends, and lawn chairs or blankets. Food and beverage service starts at 6 p.m. and music at 7 p.m.
Run Katie Run will be coming to Hayesville after opening the Tallahassee, Fla., Downtown Concert Series the prior Saturday. Come out and give them a big welcome to our small-town stage.
For the safety of everyone, if inclement weather threatens and CCCRA must make the hard call and cancel the concert, an announcement will be posted on the CCCRA’s Facebook page and at: cccra-nc.org.
