Clay County Board of Education Chairman Dr. Jason Shook confirmed that Hayesville Middle School will begin the 2024/2025 school year with a new principal and new assistant principal. Dr. Tiffany Clapsaddle has been named principal of the middle school. Jill White will be the school’s assistant principal.
Clapsaddle is a distinguished educator and holds a doctorate of education from Liberty University. During her 27-year career she has taught at the elementary, middle, high school and college level. Clapsaddle previously served as a principal for seven years, and notably, the school was recognized for being in the top five percent of North Carolina schools in academic growth. Clapsaddle is a wife and mother of three grown children, Bryce, Aubrey and Garrett. In her personal time she enjoys reading and watching college sports.
White will be serving as the assistant principal for Hayesville Middle School. White graduated from Western Carolina University where she was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow. She has been in the field of education for more than nine years and has taught English, Spanish and social studies. She transitioned to the assistant principal role at Hayesville High School in December 2023 after completing her Master’s at WCU. Beginning this year, White will serve as the assistant principal for Hayesville Middle School and Hayesville High School. Beyond the school campus, she is a voracious reader and loves to travel with her husband and daughter Everly, who is a very proud Yellow Jacket at Hayesville Primary School.
The decision came last week after closed session in a called board of education meeting.
