New year, new teachers greet Hayesville students

Clay County students had three new teachers greeting them when they returned to school this week. While two teachers are at Hayesville Middle School, one will be teaching fifth grade, which will be at Hayesville Elementary School once the new Hayesville Primary School opens. Fifth grade students currently attend Hayesville Middle School.

Savannah Anderson attended Hayesville Schools as a student herself, but she has now returned as a teacher. Anderson has taught mathematics to students in third, fourth and fifth grades, but will now teach math and science to fifth grade students.

For her first year as a Hayesville teacher, Anderson said, “I feel so grateful to be a teacher at Hayesville Elementary School and to be able to teach and love all of these kiddos.”

Bailey Beaver is starting his first year teaching Hayesville Middle School health and physical education. He is actually a second-year teacher who previously taught elementary health and physical education.

“I am excited to be working in the Clay County School system,” Beaver said about his new job. “I look forward to helping make this a great year for our students.”

Jessica Wilson is a familiar face since she has worked as the assistant physical education teacher at Hayesville Middle School for the past three years. As she starts year four at Hayesville Schools, she will now be teaching English Language Arts to seventh grade students. “I feel so blessed to be a part of this community,” Wilson said. “If I am able to positively impact at least one student during my teaching career, I will have been successful.”
