Santa keeps the Grinch from stealing anyone’s Christmas.

What a rewarding Saturday, Dec. 9 it was at the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. With the financial help of our community and local businesses, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office's “Cops for Kids” Christmas program was a complete success. More than 100 children were gifted Christmas presents with a dozen or so more to be given out at a later date.
Due to strained economic times, double the number of children were served this year as opposed to last year’s numbers. Each child was gifted with around $125 worth of Christmas Joy. At the start of our program our halls were packed full of gift bags, bicycles, fishing poles and all sorts of different treasures for our area children.
By 12 p.m. most all of the children's Christmas presents had been given out.
Donations from the following businesses and citizens made these children’s Christmas dreams come true: Jacky Jones Dodge; Jacky Jones, Blairsville Cruisers, Christ the King Church; Jacky Jones Ford; Hickory Stand United Methodist Church; Barbara Deas Trust; Ledford and Parker; Ivie Funeral Home; Clay County Lions Club; Emily Price, Mountainview Community Church; Cotton Builders, Benjamin and Dyda Bradley; Rhonda Buchanan, Lowe’s Body Shop; Baptist Women of Moss Memorial; Highway 69 Storage; Tri County Office Supply; Craig Jackson, James and Sherry Barr; William Wolstenholme, Robert and Theresa Schubert; Hayesville Church of Christ; Steven and Jane Haney; Dennis Reece, George’s Paint & Hardware; Woodard Electric, Donald West, The Striders, James and Louise Hughes; Carl and Susan Maxwell; Ron Brown, Mark Thorson, Robert and Joyce White; Judy and Rob Grove; Beverly Roberts, Frank and Opal Rose; Earl Delvalle, Clay County Tractor Club and Habanero Fresh Mex Grill.
