Clay Countians and visitors gathered on Memorial Day to honor military personnel who have lost their lives during their service to our country.
The celebration presented by VFW Post 6812 and American Legion Post 532 was a moving tribute honoring all those lost and specifically recognizing Clay County military members lost during their service.
The program was moved indoors to the Black and Gold Center due to the inclement weather. A packed crowd appreciated the respectful and dignified ceremony. Clay County native and Retired Captain Tommy Jarrett presented the keynote address where he addressed military loss on both a personal level and a united perspective.
The local VFW and the American Legion members and Hayesville High School students presented a very memorable Memorial Day program.
