Beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, April 29  Highway 69 will be closed to all traffic from the intersection of Hwy NC 69 and 64 for approximately 850 feet.

The closure of this section of Hwy NC 69 is necessary to grade, pave and pour concrete and install pavement markings at this section of the roadway. This road closure is to 8 a.m. Monday, May 13.

There will still be access to the businesses at their other entrance and exits on Hwy 64. Due to the unknown subsurface roadway conditions, if the road closure needs to be extended the department will notify entities of Clay County in writing at that time.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation apologizes for any inconvenience this road closure may create for the residents and commuters in this area of Clay County. All are encouraged to drive with caution and obey the posted speed limit. If there are any questions regarding this issue, call (828) 321-5601.
