Being prepared in the event of an emergency is of paramount importance. That’s why several Clay County agencies joined forces on Jan. 20 for First on the Scene training, a program open to the public.

First on the Scene training was aimed at empowering Clay County communities with life-saving skills. Participants learned crucial techniques such as activating the 911 system, Hands-only CPR, AED use, Narcan administration, EpiPen use, bleeding control, and fire extinguisher use, according to a press release.

Agencies involved included Clay County Fire and Rescue, Community Paramedic, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Clay County 911 and Clay County EMS.

Instructors included Kevin Sellers: E911 Director; Tyler Hyatt: EMT-P/FTO/Community Paramedic, Ben English, Community Paramedic, Brandon Bailey, EMT-P; and Henry Angelopulos, Battalion Chief Clay County Fire

“The initiative is an integral part of our ongoing community outreach program, reflecting our commitment to ensuring everyone is equipped to respond effectively in emergencies,” said Emergency Services Public Information Officer Branson Worley.
