Nantahala Bank announces the retirement of June York, who concluded her esteemed career in banking in early 2025, after more than 40 years of dedicated service.
York’s career in the banking industry began in 1981 at Macon Savings & Loan, where she started as a teller. Over the years, she held various positions, including loan officer, loan operations manager, and mortgage loan originator. For the past 20 years, York has served as a mortgage loan originator and manager at Nantahala Bank, where she played a key role in helping clients achieve their dreams of homeownership, particularly first-time home-buyers.
Reflecting on her time in the industry, York shared, “It has been incredibly rewarding to work with customers who are building or purchasing their homes. Helping first-time homeowners has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my career and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve our community in this way.”
York expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the support she has received throughout her career. “I would like to thank my family, friends and all the people in our community for their unwavering support. It has been an honor to work alongside such dedicated colleagues and to build relationships with so many wonderful people over the years.”
Looking forward to the next chapter, York plans to spend more time with her family and is excited about the possibility of traveling. She is married to Jerry York and has one daughter, Jill Cherry, along with four wonderful grandchildren.
Nantahala Bank extends its warm congratulations to June on her retirement and thanks her for her years of service and dedication.
