Alice J. Matheson, 79, of Warne, passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019 in a Clay County care facility. She was a native of Madisonville, Tenn. She had lived and worked in Security, Col. for 20 years and finally moved to Hayesville in 1986. Alice was of the Baptist faith.

Alice was a loving mother and spent her life caring for others.

She was the daughter of the late William B. and Nettie Spurling Green. She was also preceded in death by the father of her two daughters and former husband, Cecil L. Willis; and two brothers, Walter B. Green and an infant brother.

Surviving are two daughters, Dewana Lyvers and husband, Michael, of Warne, and Denise Marie Derreberry and husband, Billy Ray, of Andrews; two sisters, Mattie Holloway and Hattie Myers, both of Louisville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Robert and Dakota Lyvers, and Kyle Derreberry; two great-granddaughters, Katie Lyvers and Akyla Derreberry; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Rev. Danny Moss officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:50 p.m. Saturday  at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville prior to the services.
