Betty Jean Chance, 82, of Hayesville, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County and the daughter of the late Conley and Georgia Watkins Teems. Betty was a housekeeper. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers. Betty loved her church group and cared a lot about St. Jude's and the Shriner's Hospitals.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ebb Chance; one son, James Edgar Chance; four brothers, Tommy, Harry, Allen and Robert Teems; one sister, Barbara Brumley; and two grandchildren, Jamie and Justin Chance.
She is survived by one son, Julius Chance and wife, Kay; two brothers, Donald Teems and wife, Faye; and Leon Teems and wife, Brenda; four grandchildren, Sherry Neal and husband, Tony; James Chance and wife, Nellie; Tabitha Haney, James Chance and wife, Carrie; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 5 pm, Saturday, July 18 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel, of Hayesville. Rev. Bill Dyer officiated. Burial was in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, July 18 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel, of Hayesville.
