Clella Marie Byers, 94, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at her home in Hiawassee, Ga.

She was a native of Clay County.

She was the daughter of the late Thomas Fide and Addie Groves Cable.

Her husband, Denver Bruce Byers and sister, Bessie Mae Jones, also preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker who spent her life serving Jesus by serving others. Cooking, canning, sewing, being with family and volunteering for Habitat for Humanity were some of the things she enjoyed the most.

Clella was a member of McConnell Memorial Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Surviving are her son, Rev. Danny Byers and wife, Retta, of Hiawassee; niece, like a daughter, Jackqueline Carpenter, of Columbus, N.C.; nephew, like a son, Robert Smith and wife, Michelle, of Cherokee, N.C. ; grandchildren, Daniel Byers and wife, Brittany, of Asheville, Tyler Byers and fiancé, Lauren Parham, of Brevard; Brett Carpenter and wife Lexie, of Saluda; Brittney Boland and husband, Tom, of Hendersonville; Whitney Smith, of Hendersonville; Brittany Fuller and husband, Chris, of Cherokee; Wesley Long and partner Valerie Evans, of Cherokee and several great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother James Eldridge Cable, of Cleveland, Tenn., and sister Elizabeth "Libby" Myers and husband Robert, of Comstock Park, Mich.

A family graveside service will be held at a later date at Blue Ridge Garden of Memory in Brevard.
