Denny Moss

Denny Moss, 67, of Hayesville, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Monday, April 18, 2022 while surrounded by his loving family. Denny was a devoted Christian and followed the Lord’s calling into ministry. He had served as pastor for more than 30 years preaching at Downing’s Creek Baptist Church, Track Rock Baptist Church and was currently pastoring at Mountain Grace Baptist Church. He lived a life of selflessness, always putting others needs before his own. Denny enjoyed encouraging many young preachers upon entering the ministry. His ministry was far reaching, touching the lives of countless people. He used his love of the outdoors to point others to a relationship with Christ. Denny loved well. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him, 1 John, 4:16. The Light of God shown through his life.

He was the son of Norma Moss Smart, of Hayesville, and the late Ophar Moss. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donny Moss.

He is survived by family that he loved deeply. Teresa Moss, loving wife of 48 years, of Hayesville; a son, Zachary Moss and wife, Elizabeth, of Hayesville; a daughter, Amanda Garrett and husband, Wesley, of Blairsville, Ga.; five grandchildren, Micah and Makenna Moss, Kaylee, Layla and Coleman Garrett; and two sisters, Denise Swanson and husband, Kenny, and Missy Lingerfelt, both of Hayesville. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 23 at Mountain Grace Baptist Church with the Revs. Brian Browning and Shannon Spurling officiating. Interment will be in the Bethabara Baptist Church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Charles “Waga” Grier, Jordan and Donny Lingerfelt, Caleb McMahan, Kevin and Ketron Moss, Merlin Ledford and Dwayne “Hoss” Maney.

The family will receive friends at the church from 12-2:45 p.m. prior to the service.
