E. Ruth Patterson

E. Ruth Patterson, 69, of Hayesville, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022 in a Braselton, Ga. hospital.

A hard-working and diligent follower of Jesus Christ and a precious mother, she was a native of Owltown Road, Blairsville, Ga. Ruth was known for her strength and fiercely nurturing, friendly disposition. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a gentle, loving woman who adored her church family and any baby she ever met.

She was the daughter of the late Ulric Winston and Lawanda Reece Spiva. She was also preceded in death by brother, Stevie Spiva; sister, Linda Spiva Carlisle; her first-born grandson, Gavin Long; great-grandson, Jace Long, and brother-in-law, Johnny Glazner.

Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Rex Patterson, of Eagle Fork; three daughters, Tina Patterson McGregor and husband, Mark, Brandie Patterson McTaggart and husband, Dwayne, and Niki Patterson; a son, Amos Patterson and partner, Emma Redding; two sisters, Peggy Patrick and husband, Chuck and Debbie Glazner; four brothers, Jerry Spiva and wife, Debra, Gene Spiva and wife, Wendy, James Spiva and wife, Rita, and Ricky Spiva and wife, Sherile; 14 grandchildren, Austin and Elijah Trusty, Tanner Long, Karma, Isaiah, Lakota, Judah, Uriah and Asa Patterson, Jake McTaggart, Maddison and Malachi Patterson, Davie Bradley and Reese Crowder; two great-grandchildren, Grayson Trusty and Cleo Hyatt.

In lieu of a traditional funeral, we wish to extend our mother’s open invitation to church that she gave us all most every time we gathered. Join us at North Mount Zion Church of God, 423 Scataway Road in Hiawassee, Ga. The praise and worship church service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11. There will be a homecoming-style dinner following the church service. The Celebration of Life and singing will begin at 2 p.m.

It was our mother’s daily prayer to have all of her family and loved ones on church pews together. Celebrate her final homecoming with us in church and praise.
