John Eugene Rogers

John Eugene Rogers, 83, of Buford, Ga., passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021.

John was born in Clay County to the late Rev. Oda G. and Minnie Kuykendall Rogers, of Cruso, N.C. He was a graduate of Hayesville High School. He was self employed and was in the automobile business for 47 years. John was an ordained deacon and of the Baptist faith. He was married to Linda Marcella Abercrombie Rogers for 62 years and had two wonderful children.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, John E. Rogers, Jr.; three brothers, Rev. Jimmy Rogers, Clarence Rogers and Willie M. "Bill" Rogers; and two sisters, Ruth Lance and Nora Barnhill.

John is survived by his wife, Linda Marcella Abercrombie Rogers; daughter, Teresa Lynn Davis (Don); and one sister, Dayton Rogers Moss.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Hayesville. Gerry Rogers and Rev. Johnny Lance will officiate. Music will be conducted by Lisa Strickland, Trey Rogers and Julianna Rogers. Interment will follow at Meadow Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Hayesville. Pallbearers are Gerry, David, Kenny, Ricky and David Rogers and Johnny Lance. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth, Trey, Jeffrey and Jonathan Rogers and Marcus McGill.

The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Hayesville.
