Joyce Miller Ware, 81 of Brasstown passed away on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022 in a Towns County, Ga. hospital. She was a native of Clay County and moved to Asheville and began working at the paper mill. Joyce then moved to Hickory working as a manager at Woolworth’s. Joyce also worked in management at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. She later managed housekeeping at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory where she later retired. She returned to Brasstown in 2008, and was an active member of Pine Log Baptist Church. Joyce enjoyed gardening, flowers and keeping her yard well kept.
She was the daughter of the late Charles Russell and Eula Vaughn Reece Miller. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Richard Honeycutt; a sister, Evelyn Goforth; five brothers, Richard, Keith, Pete, Patt and Charles Miller.
Surviving are a daughter, Denise Honeycutt of Hiawassee, Ga.; two grandchildren, Thomas Greene of Raleigh, N.C., Emily Greer and husband Zac of Granite Falls, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Madi Greer; two brothers. Ben Miller and wife Harriett of Hayesville and Gene Miller of Woodstock, Ga. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday Dec.26, at Pine Log Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Miller officiating. A eulogy was provided by Thomas Greene. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Cameron Miller, Zac Greer, Trevor Penland, Rob Miller, Denver Goforth and Rob Lownie. The family received friends from 12-1:24 p.m. at Pine Log Baptist Church prior to the services.
