Larry E. Monkus

Mr. Larry E. Monkus, 73, of Hayesville, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga. Larry was born April 6, 1949 in Hayesville to Arvil Monkus and Ruby Canup Monkus.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife June; children, Christopher Monkus and Selena (Chris) Rogers. Larry is also survived by his grandchildren, Toby Monkus, Emily Shook, Melynne Rogers, Christopher Knight and Jerry Knight; sisters, Barbara (Sid) Penland, Janice (David) Fuller, Carol Arrowood and Sandy Fowler; brothers, Jerry (Carolyn) Monkus and Arnold Monkus. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Larry was of the Baptist Faith. He dearly loved his family and spending time with them. He enjoyed gardening and spending time outside. He was best known for making people laugh and being willing to lend a helping hand.

A memorial service was held at Meadow Grove Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6.
