Luca William Ruiz Mateo

Luca William Ruiz Mateo, infant son of Michelle Colvin and Joshua Mateo, of Hayesville, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2022.

Luca was the best and most adorable baby Joshua and Michelle could have asked for and they cherished every second with him.

Some people only dream of angels: we held one in our arms.

Surviving, in addition to the parents, are his maternal grandmother, Tamara Colvin and Patrick Norton; his maternal grandfather, Brandon Colvin and Leaundra Stewart, of Robbinsville; his paternal grandfather, William Mateo, of Hayesville; his maternal great-grandmother, Tina Hyde; his maternal great-grandmother, Angela Williams; his maternal great-great-grandmother, Camilla Sutherland; three uncles, Emilio Mateo, Damion Colvin and Elijah Colvin; four aunts, Layla Colvin, Christina Benefield, Janice Benefield and Raeanna Mateo; and several great-nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Diana Mateo; his paternal great-grandfather, Eddie Day; and his maternal great-grandfather, Verlie Colvin.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Hillcrest Assembly of God and will be announced at a later date.
