Phyllis Fuss Hilliard

Mrs. Phyllis Fuss Hilliard, 78, of Warne, N.C. passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022. She was born to the late Mr. Roy Lewis and Mrs. Mary Lee Morris Fuss on Oct. 28, 1943 in Decatur, Ga. She was a member of New Life Church in Hayesville. Phyllis was gifted the spirit of service; she showed up with food in hand any time someone close lost a loved one. She and Hugh would have been married 54 years in September. She was a good listener, sensitive and empathetic to those around her. Phyllis took care of her household, was a devoted helpmate to her husband; was a proud "swim team mom" and later in life was a doting grandmother. She used her talents of embroidering and cross stitch to gift to the children's church bookmarkers. Phyllis also enjoyed crossword puzzles, word searches and coloring Bible verses to be hung in the children's Sunday School rooms.

Mrs. Hilliard leaves behind her husband, Hugh Hilliard; son, Randy Hilliard; honorary son, Joseph Brooks; grandchildren, Trevor Jones, Kahlan, Ashlyne, Lilly and Meghan Hilliard; great-grandchild, Heidi Jean Jones; sister, Terresa Fulcher; nephews, Scott and Brandon Fulcher; along with a number of extended family and friends.

Visitation was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 27 at Wages and Sons Funeral Home in Stone Mountain, Ga.

A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. July 27 at Mellwood Cemetery
