Richard Odis Baine Honeycutt

Richard Odis Baine Honeycutt, 24, of Centreville, Va. and formerly of Hayesville passed away Monday, June 6, 2022.

He was born in Catawba County, N.C. to Jimmy Honeycutt and wife, Lisa, of Bristol, Tenn. and his mother, Denise Honeycutt, of Hiawassee, Ga. Richard graduated from Hayesville High School in 2016. He played basketball. Richard was active in the Virginia Army National Guard. He graduated from The Citadel School of Engineering in 2020, earning a bachelor's degree and also graduated from the Basic Officer Leadership Course. Richard worked for Amazon as an IT Technician. He was very goal oriented and determined. Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing. He attended First Free Will Baptist Church in Hayesville.

In addition to his parents he is survived by two brothers, Thomas Greene, of Raleigh, N.C., and Eric Honeycutt, of Ashboro, N.C.; two sisters, Emily Greer and husband, Zac, of Granite Falls, N.C., and Julie Adame and husband, Sergio, of Coleridge, N.C.; maternal grandmother, Joyce Ware, of Brasstown, N.C.; paternal grandparents, Jim and Margaret Honeycutt, of Randleman, N.C.; and three nieces and two nephews.

Funeral services was held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 11 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Hayesville. Pastor Jim Honeycutt and Chaplain Stanley Boudai officiated. Eulogy was given by his brother, Thomas Greene. Burial was in the Pine Log Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard's fellow colleagues and good friends.

The family received friends from 12-1:30 p.m., Saturday at the First Free Will Baptist Church.
