Robert Harrell Garrett, 76, passed away unexpectedly at North East Georgia Medical Center Jan. 20, 2022, after a long battle with COPD. Harrell left this earth to gain his heavenly body and join many loved ones. He was born April 4, 1945 to the late Hobert and Florence Garrett of Warne, N.C.

Preceded in death by parents; baby sister Margaret; brothers, Clyde (Barbara) Garrett, David (Gardnell) Garrett, Walter (Kathy) Garrett, Edgar Garrett, Hoby Garrett and brother-in-law Dave Moore, along with many friends and loved ones.

Survived after 54 years of marriage is Margie Gibson Garrett; son Corey (Joanna) Garrett, of Blairsville, Ga.; daughters Robin Garrett, of Hull, Ga., Lynn (J.P.) Pack, of Blairsville; sons, Richie (Paige) Roberts, of Murphy, N.C., and Reggie (Kim) Roberts, of Hiawassee, Ga.; grandchildren, Willow, Austin, Baylor, Ryan, Chantel Garrett and Cole Roberts; great-grandchildren, Grayson and Jonah Garrett; sister, Maxine Moore, Naomi Garrett and brother Oscar (Imogene) Garrett, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Harrell worked the majority of his life driving semi-truck cross country or on heavy equipment with brothers and nephews. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially “grands” or sitting on the porch shooting the breeze. Many memories, laughs and tears were made on that porch. He was always telling some tale laughing or relaxed smoking. He enjoyed every minute with family and friends watching westerns and reading his magazines, telling stories of where he had been.

Harrell grew up going to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church where he confessed his salvation. Later in life he had morning devotions with Rev. Les Feldick.

Viewing was held from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23 at Mountain View Funeral Home Blairsville. Services followed with Rev. Mike Garrett and Dewayne Ledford speaking. Interment was at Many Forks Baptist Church, with Mike Isham speaking. 

Pallbearers were Tony Garrett, Randy McClure, Dewayne Ledford (Pork), David Garrett, Ed McClure and Sam Hogsed. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Hall, Danny Barnard, Gene Henderson and the grandsons.

The family requests contribution be made to Many Forks Cemetery fund.
