Sonny King

Sonny King, age 86 of Hayesville, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, January 6, 2022.  He was a native of Nashville, Tennessee.  He served in the United States Army for three years, where he was stationed in Germany during the Cold War Era.  Sonny and his two brothers moved to Miami, Florida looking for work, and met his future wife, then Lonne Wade.  In 1978, he moved his family to Hayesville. Sonny worked alongside his sons as a contractor, both commercial and residential, throughout life.  He was most recently a member of New Life Baptist Church.

He was the son of the late Clarence Sr. and Frances Yeargin King.  One son, Steven King, and two sisters, Sarah Lorence and Alma Hamilton also preceded him in death.

Sonny is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lonne Wade King of Hayesville; three sons, Brad King of Hayesville, Michael King and wife, Beverly of Apex, North Carolina, Ronnie King and wife, Sara of Hayesville; one sister, Polly Templeton; two brothers, George and Charles King; and three grandchildren, Bailey, Ella, and Taylor King. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held and announced at a later date.
