Tammie Sue Garrett, 52, of Hayesville, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022.

She was born in Clayton, Ga. to Harriett Cox Lygh. Tammie worked for Action Auto, Advanced Auto, Hardees for 14 years, part-time at Lewis Surplus for seven years and Jacky Jones Ford of Hayesville as a service writer for 22 years along with her co-worker, Chris Holland.

Tammie was a member of Truett Memorial Baptist Church; she was very passionate about her church, loved singing in the choir and loved helping with Vacation Bible School. She loved spending time with her family and helping with the Truett Children's Home; she believed in helping children who needed help. She liked to play racket ball, hiking, fishing and gardening. Tammie was an animal lover; she loved all animals especially her special dogs, Sadie and Tootsie. Tammie had many friends all over the surrounding counties and states. She was loved by many people and will be dearly missed. Tammie was a U.S. Army veteran.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Samuel David and wife Dorothy Joe Ledford Cox; paternal grandparents, Paul and Dorothy Lowe Garrett; one uncle, Samuel "Sammy" David Cox, Jr.

She is survived by her mother, Harriett Cox Lygh and stepfather, Bnjmn, of Hayesville; one brother, Rex Anthony Garrett and wife, Pam, of Hiawassee, Ga.; aunt, Eve Cox, and her daughter, Katrina Ollie Anderson, and her son, Dakota Lucky; uncle, Knox Garrett and wife Brenda, of Hiawassee; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30 at the Truett Memorial Baptist Church in Hayesville. Rev. Charlie Shelton and Dr. Chester Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Sweetwater Methodist Church Cemetery with military graveside rites being conducted by American Legion Post 96, Murphy; American Legion Post 532 Hayesville; VFW Post 6812, Hayesville, and the Marine Corp League, Marble. 

Pallbearers will be Nathan Garrett, Russell Reynolds, Joey Lequire, Harold Dockery, Chris Holland, Faison Lewis, Cameron Miller and Hunter Lewis.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-2 p.m. Saturday, April 30 at the Truett Memorial Baptist Church in Hayesville.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Truett Baptist Children's Home, 2235 NC Hwy 141, Marble, NC 28905.
