Valerie Schechinger

Valerie Schechinger, 67, of Hayesville, went home to be in the arms of Jesus on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019. Valerie was born Sept. 8, 1952 in Fargo, N.D. She later married her high school sweetheart, Lloyd, whom she was happily married to for 48 years.

After raising her children, she pursued and achieved her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of South Florida. She worked as an accountant for several home owner’s associations. Valerie moved to Clay County in 2007. She faithfully attended All Saints Lutheran Church in Blairsville, Ga., where she served as treasurer and enjoyed the women’s Bible study and the quilting group. Many of the quilts she made supported charities such as S.A.F.E. Valerie also enjoyed gardening, dancing and spending time with family and friends.

She was the daughter of the late Verle and Constance Morse Balsley. Surviving are her loving husband of 48 years, Lloyd; a son, Brian Schechinger, of Hayesville; three daughters, Andrea Polanco and husband, Pete, of Naples, Fla., Kimberly Schechinger, of Gainesville, Ga., and Sarah Chronister and husband, Ryan, of Fort Myers, Fla.; two sisters, Connie Williams and husband, Les and Lu Pronovost, all of Colorado; a brother, Duane Balsley, of California; six grandchildren, Peter and Madyson Polanco, Lucas Baker, Makenzie Claiborne and Cody and Emmalee Chronister; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6 in the All Saints Lutheran Church in Blairsville with Pastor David Wesche officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Valerie Schechinger to the All Saints Lutheran Church, 83 Earl Shelton Road, Blairsville, Ga. 30512.
